Farming Smarter holds its Field School every summer at its Farming Smarter research and development site in Lethbridge County, Alberta. (211034 HWY 512) It’s a one-day event from 8 am to 3:30 pm. Generally, we aim for end of June or the first week of July for the event.
Field School participants get down in the crop checking for pests, disease, growth, reaction to fertilizers or pesticides. It’s all about seeing with your own eyes.
Visit the archive pages to the right for annual recaps and video links related to each year.
We fill the day with information sessions in the fields where our research takes place. We bring in experts from our membership and research partners to give participants the best information currently available on our topics. As much as possible, southern Alberta farmers inspire our work and, therefore, our in-field sessions during the Field School and crop walks.
We also offer CCA, CCSC and Pesticide Application credits when we can.
Contact Jamie Puchinger for all inquiries regarding upcoming Field Schools.
We also post the field school in the events section of this website. Typically, the post will appear in late winter.
