Do bees really need to be fed?
Dr. Danica Baines sets out to answer that question, along with many others regarding the health of Alberta's managed bees at this year's Farming Smarter Field School.
Baines has spent the last four years studying Alberta's managed bee species (leaf cutter, honey and bumblebees) used to pollinate crops.
"The biggest thing for growers is to not worry about what you're spraying ≥ but when you're spraying," Baines says. "You can time your sprays to protect the bees."
