This week'sInsect of the Weekis a species of Pteromalidae called Macroglenes penetrans. It is an important natural enemy of thewheat midge. They overwinter as larvae inside the wheat midge larvae. The wheat midge dies when the M. penetrans larvae are fully developed and emerge as adults in the spring.
