You can expect to read outstanding stories on issues, challenges, and successes from across the industry. We think this is our best edition yet and can’t wait to hear what you think!
To get you eager for next week’s release of the Farming Smarter Magazine, we have a small selection of teasers to whet your appetite.
Scale-Up With Third-Party Research - Natalie Noble “[Farming Smarter’s] local intelligence is advantageous to companies looking for regional adaption studies.” Get an inside look at our journey to an active leadership role we play in support of research goals among southern Alberta companies. It took years of experience to acquire the specialized knowledge and equipment that lets us create successful trials tailor-made to a company’s needs – and we’re excited to share the experience with you! |

Farming Smarter Secures Coaldale Land - Jena Lynde-Smith “For Farming Smarter, land is more than soil and space - it's the foundation of meaningful agricultural research.” We signed a 5-year lease on a quarter-section of land near Coaldale, AB that comes with irrigation rights! As our projects include crop rotations to align with actual farmer practices, we need four times the amount of land to accommodate a single trial. Jamie Puchinger shares why this is such a massive deal for us and what you can expect to see from this milestone! |

Easy to Use Smart Irrigation Technology - Sean Kjos “The team believes the LiteFarm platform will show its value to irrigators and manufacturers will recognize the value they stand to gain.” A completely free, user-friendly platform that delivers hands-off irrigation prescriptions will soon be in the hands of farmers around the world. The Smart Irrigation project wants to remove the stress of irrigating by combining current soil moisture, hyper-localized weather data, and crop requirements into a report delivered to your phone, tablet, or computer. It’s impossible to package all the benefits of this tool into a few short sentences, but you can learn more about the projects when our magazine releases! |

Guiding Farming Smarter to a Bright Future - Amanda Brittain “Farming Smarter’s latest Strategic Plan brings together the people and resources needed to find innovative solutions to challenges and to have a positive impact on southern Alberta’s agriculture industry.” Farming is incredibly challenging, but it’s just as fulfilling; the research behind it is no exception. Success in the industry relies on having the best knowledge, the best tools, but most importantly – the best people. This is why we’ve been so eager to gush about our Strategic Plan for 2025-2030! We’re taking a people-first approach to support the industry through its most important asset and make sure they’re equipped with the skills and knowledge to continue growing this industry. We hope you enjoy the look behind the curtain in Amanda Brittain’s interview with Jamie Puchinger on how we developed the goals, strategies, and actions behind the plans. |
