The combines are slowing down, which makes it a good time to compare notes.
Two events this fall put you in a room (or on a bus) with producers who are working through the same questions you are.
Dryland Corner Bus Tour: Wednesday, Oct. 14
We pushed this one back for the harvest crunch, and the new date is almost here.
Dryland corners are easy to overlook and hard to get right. This tour takes you out to see what other producers are doing with theirs:
- Natural grasslands and conservation options
- Annual cropping and the benefits it can bring
- Non-agriculture options that work
You'll see each approach in the field and hear how it was implemented, so you can decide which fits your farm.
The details
- When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The bus leaves at 9:00 a.m. sharp!
- Cost: $199 registration
- CCA credits: Soil & Water Management (1), Crop Management (0.5), Integrated Pest Management (0.5)
Seats are limited, so register early.
Agronomy Battles: Open to All
Thanks to the Counties of Willow Creek, Warner, and Forty Mile, this year's Agronomy Battles are open to everyone, and they're free to attend.
It's a local roundtable where crop producers, researchers, and industry leaders get real about what's working, what isn't, and what we can do better.
Each event runs from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and targets a different topic to keep conversations focused. Join us to discuss:
- Pest Management - Claresholm, October 22
- Dryland Crop Fertility & Soil Management - Warner, October 28
- Long-term Crop Rotations - Foremost, November 4
Bring your own experience to the table. You'll share hard-won knowledge, hear perspectives you might not have considered, and leave with practical strategies you can put to work on your farm.
Cost: Free. Just RSVP so we can save you a seat.
